Mark Sharp was convicted of more than $1.6 million in fraudulent Medicaid billing in Georgia. Sharp’s “Center for Families” mental health centers contracted with psychiatrists and psychologists to provide mental health services to Medicaid recipients, and Sharp’s company handled the billing.

Sharp billed for Medicaid recipients who were never patients at his centers and over-billed for patients who were seen. Psychiatrists and psychologists testified that Sharp submitted bills for patients they hadn’t seen and bills for sessions on days that they weren’t working at the Center for Families.

The judge sentenced Sharp to 4 years in prison, followed by 6 years probation and a $50,000.00 fine.
