The United States Attorney for the District of Maryland serves as the federal government’s lawyer in Maryland. The district is one of 93 Judicial Districts throughout the country that are part of the U.S. Department of Justice. Appointed by the President and confirmed by the United States Senate, the U.S. Attorney in Maryland oversees approximately 65 assistant U.S. Attorneys (AUSAs) who carry out the offices mission.
