Nov 23 2005
A MAN who tried to fleece the NHS out of more than £8,000 was given a three-month suspended sentence this week.
Rennia Alexis worked as a health-care assistant at Crawley and East Surrey hospitals, but submitted numerous timesheets for shifts he had not worked.
Alexis appeared at Redhill Magistrates’ Court on Monday and was also ordered to repay the trust the full £8,000 he had defrauded plus £200 costs, and was given 150 hours community punishment.
Alexis, of Threefirs Way, Reading, stopped working for the Surrey and Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust in May, but continued to claim for shifts to be paid for several months afterwards.
